One of the best ways to visit Ingapirca is by bike. Your private guide will take you through stunning scenery and rural areas and experience the Cañari indigenous culture before reaching the famed ruins for a guided tour of Ingapirca.
Minivan will pick you up and head north along the Pan American Highway for approximately one hour to Molobog. Here you will cycle 35km (3 hours) to Ingapirca along a secondary dirt road, passing through indigenous villages and landscapes of corn and potato fields. The tour will conclude with a visit to the Ingapirca ruins, where your guide will help you understand the history of the Incas, their culture and traditions before heading back to Cuenca in the minivan.
The largest known Inca ruins in Ecuador, the Ingapirca complex features a small fortress that archaeologists believe the main elliptical platform structure, called the Temple of the Sun was used for ceremonial religious purposes. The Temple of the Sun was positioned to the solstices, and at exactly the right time of day, sunlight would fall through the center of the doorway of the small chamber to the temple.
